QuikTrip Accepted Into Oklahoma's Quality Jobs Program

TULSA, Okla. — QuikTrip Corp. was one of two companies accepted into the Oklahoma Quality Jobs Program alongside aerospace giant Boeing, the state Commerce Department announced Oct. 30. As a result, the convenience store chain pledged to create 137 jobs over the next five years for a maximum benefit of $4.27 million from the department, according to a Tulsa World report.

All 137 jobs will be at QuikTrip's headquarters at 4705 S. 129th East Ave. in Tulsa, said company spokesman Mike Thornbrugh.

"They'll be in petroleum benefits and other support operations," he said. "It'll be in virtually everything QuikTrip does."

Companies that quality for Oklahoma's Quality Jobs Program receive quarterly cash payments of up to 5 percent of new taxable payroll.

The new jobs and 80,000-square-foot expansion of QuikTrip's headquarters, completed last spring, are both part of the company's long-term plan. Prior to the expansion, the company nearly ran out of room for new employees.

"When we built the headquarters 12 years ago, we figured that if our long-term plan came through, we'd need the extra space and extra employees," Thornbrugh said.
