Quick Chek Responds to Residents’ Concerns About New Location

WALL, N.J. -- Quick Chek's efforts to open a new store and gas station at a former state police barracks here may not be so quick after all. Several residents expressed concerns about the plan, Frank Marchiano, the convenience store chain's real estate manager, said at Wednesday's board of adjustment meeting, reported Wall Patch.

Quick Chek plans to open a 5,496-square-foot store and 16-pump gas station at 2101 Allenwood Rd., near New Jersey state route 138. However, residents of an adjacent neighborhood to the planned location, living on Sleepy Hollow Court, expressed concerns a Quick Chek store would not be beneficial to the local community.

Picking up on that point, Wilma Morrissey, the board of adjustment's vice chair, asked during the meeting: "How does this site benefit the neighbors?"

Marchiano responded that Quick Chek offers an important service, including providing gas and groceries. "We are desirous of being a good community member," he said, as reported by Wall Patch. ""We think we provide a great service."

During the meeting, Board Chairwoman Mary DeSarno promised that the public would be allowed to comment on the proposal during its Nov. 2 hearing at town hall.
