Pilot Travel Centers Offers Wi-Fi Access

ATLANTA -- When Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Travel Centers LLC, a chain of 270 interstate retail travel centers, reached an agreement with Truckstop.net late last year to deploy Truckstop.net's Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) network at all of its locations, both companies were excited about the service this product would offer to Pilot customers. In partnership with Sprint, Truckstop.net planned to roll its wireless Internet connectivity product across the 37 states where Pilot owned locations.

Pilot planned to use a flat-fee payment model for unlimited access, with optional flat-fee products for periodic access, for service through a wide range of universal wireless Internet access points or hot spots. The company chose PRE Solutions, a provider of prepaid transaction services, to customize a product-transaction system that enabled Pilot to sell PINs through its existing countertop POS terminals and alongside other prepaid products.

"PRE Solutions is committed to designing and supporting prepaid programs that fit the needs of our retail partners," said Tom Konz, Chief Operating Officer of PRE Solutions. "When Pilot came to us needing a transaction system for Truckstop.net, we were excited to help them bring the product to market."

Introduced earlier this summer, Truckstop.net products are now readily available at all Pilot locations. Transaction numbers have increased by almost 40 percent since launch and Pilot is beginning to enjoy the products' full potential.

"With Truckstop.net's Wi-Fi network, Pilot is able to offer its customers value and service in an area of state-of-the-art technology," said Ed Leddy, VP of Marketing for Pilot Travel Centers. "And with PRE Solutions running the transactions, Pilot is assured high quality, on-demand product delivery."

"Our expertise is to enable retailers to drive the most profit from their prepaid category - and that involves delivering innovative products and unique delivery solutions to each retail partner," said Konz.
