Parker's New Store Breaks Ground in October

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Parker's is getting ready to put shovel to dirt for a new convenience store in Rincon, Ga. The company will break ground on its 29th store in October.

The c-store will rise on the site of the former Springfield Ford dealership on Highway 21. It will feature 4,500 square feet of retail space and offer discounted gasoline. It is expected to open its doors to customers in January 2013. Parker's latest store will be its first in Rincon and the company's third in Effingham County, according to the company. Its other county locations are in Guyton and Springfield.

"We're responding to repeated requests from area residents who have been asking us to open a Parker's in Rincon," said Greg Parker, president and CEO of The Parker Cos. "We're listening to our customer base and appreciate their feedback. Our goal is always to exceed customer expectations, delivering the products customers want most at competitive prices."

Parker's Rincon location will feature high-tech Gilbarco Applause TV gas pumps outfitted with 10-inch, full-color TV screens and will offer innovative LIFT Retail Marketing Technology. In addition, the store will offer the Parker's 1-Cent Wednesday Fueling the Community program. On the first Wednesday of every month, Parker's sets aside one cent of every gallon of gas purchased to donate back to community schools.

Parker's currently operates 27 convenience stores across the region and plans to open additional locations in Chatham, Liberty, Effingham, Bulloch, Jasper and Beaufort counties within the next year. The 28th Parker's store is currently under construction in Garden City, Ga. and is scheduled to open in October.
