New Jersey to End Gas Rationing Tomorrow

TRENTON, N.J. -- What a difference a week makes. Just days after the State of New Jersey instituted a gas rationing program, the restrictions will be lifted at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he was lifting the rationing plan -- which required motorists to purchase fuel on odd or even days based on the last digit of their license plate -- because gas supplies are plentiful, reported the Associated Press.

Rationing was put into effect in 12 counties in central and northern New Jersey to alleviate waits that topped two hours at many gas stations following Superstorm Sandy. However, lines throughout the state were nonexistent or very short yesterday, observed CSNews Online staffers.

The State of New York followed with its own rationing program six days after New Jersey. That rationing mandate remains in effect.
