Maverik Stores Expand Services

In an effort to boost commercial fuel sales, Maverik Country Stores Inc. reached an agreement with South Portland, Maine-based Wright Express to accept its commercial fleet card at all 167 company-owned stores in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and Colorado.

"Wright Express is the number one fleet card, so we think adding the program will bring us new commercial fleet customers," said Maverik spokesman Spencer Hewlett.

Maverik, which was established in 1928, has concentrated on growing its retail network over the past three years. In 1999, the company acquired the 33 Circle K stores in Utah to become the largest retailer in the state. "With 91 sites in Utah, Maverik is the number one gas retailer so it is important to us to have competitive prices and provide easy access for the commercial fleet to purchase our services," Hewlett said.
