Maverik Closing Six Stores to Ensure Consistency

SALT LAKE CITY — Maverik Inc. will close six convenience stores on March 5. One is located in Utah, another is in Wyoming and the remaining four sites are in Idaho.

“As Maverik expands, we want to ensure that our customers enjoy the same level of amazing service no matter the store location,” said Aaron Simpson, vice president of Maverik. “Closing these stores was not an easy decision to make, and it was based on the need for consistency as we continue to grow. It is important for all of our employees to know how appreciated they are as Maverik team members. This change will help Maverik concentrate its resources on the overall growth within each community we serve, improving our customers’ experience and opening up new opportunities in the future.”

In a company news release, Salt Lake City-based Maverik noted it is making “every attempt” to provide employees with other employment opportunities within the company.

The stores to be closed on March 5 are located at:

  • 2650 S. Main St. in Salt Lake City;
  • 308 W. Lakeway Road in Gillette, Wyo.;
  • 12 S. 2nd West in Rexburg, Idaho;
  • 5200 Chinden Blvd. in Boise, Idaho;
  • 9030 W. Franklin Road in Boise, Idaho; and
  • 1909 W. Boise Ave. in Boise, Idaho.

Despite these store closings, Maverik also announced in the same news release that it expects to open 26 new convenience stores in the near future.

Maverik Inc., founded in 1928, is known as Adventure’s First Stop. It currently operates nearly 280 c-stores in 10 states and is the largest independent fuel marketer in the Intermountain West region.
