L.A.'s Locali Eyes Expansion Through Franchising Opportunities

LOS ANGELES — Healthy convenience store operator Locali has its sights set on expansion for its “Eat Smart. All Day.” mission.

Carrying the Locali Healthy Convenience banner, the company will open its third store at 8730 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood in September.

Locali came on the scene in 2009 when founders Greg Horos and Melissa Rosen introduced the organic deli and natural market quick-service restaurant concept in Hollywood, Calif. Following that first store's success, a second location opened in Venice, Calif., in 2014.

Now, Horos and Rosen are ready to take Locali beyond the borders of Southern California. The company has formed a new partnership with Fransmart Franchise Development Co., the company behind the growth of Five Guys Burgers and Fries, and Qdoba Mexican Grill.

Locali is looking for experienced and qualified franchise partners across the United States. The company is offering franchises of both Locali Healthy Convenience and its vegan fast-food kiosk called Localita & The Badasserie.

The first Localita & The Badasserie — with its “Eat Nice. Live Naughty.” mission — opened in downtown Los Angeles. An additional Localita & The Badasserie location is slated to open in Highland Park, Calif., in 2018, according to media reports.

“We’ve been really successful because of our passion to serve customers amazing food that also helps them live better lives through eating healthy. This is matched with a business model that is nubile and sustainable. Always trendy, but not trend dependent,” Horos told QSR Magazine. “We can’t wait to get West Hollywood open and to expand to new areas by franchising.”

Fransmart will serve as exclusive franchise partner for Locali, whose goal is to help busy people not have to sacrifice healthy eating for convenience or flavor.

“We want change the way people think about healthy eating,” Rosen said. “We strive to provide a warm environment that encourages people to make healthy choices while still enjoying an utterly delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner. We’re excited to take this mission and unique foodservice model to consumers and entrepreneurs in new markets.”
