Kwik Trip Rewards Safe Teens

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Kwik Trip Inc., operator of more than 300 convenience stores based here, will reward safe teen drivers with $20 gift cards when they are members of the Teen Safe Driver Program, a unit DriveCam Inc., a global driver risk management company.

The program is part of an agreement between the two companies to reward teens in Minnesota and Wisconsin for safe driving habits. DriveCam developed the Teen Safe Driver Program in conjunction with American Family Insurance to help new teen drivers improve their skills on the road. American Family customers who register for the program and demonstrate safe driving habits will receive the gift card courtesy of KwikTrip, which can be used for fuel and other store purchases.

"DriveCam is pleased to welcome Kwik Trip as a partner with the Teen Safe Driver Program," Rusty Weiss, director of DriveCam's consumer division, said in a written statement. "This is a significant contribution on Kwik Trip's behalf and signifies their commitment to helping teen drivers in the local communities in which they operate."

The Teen Safe Driver Program helps teens stay safe during their first year of unsupervised driving and encourages family discussions on real-world driving incidents and distractions, according to the company. To launch the partnership, Kwik Trip gave an initial donation of $20,000 in gift cards and related giveaways.

"It's our pleasure to reward young drivers enrolled in the Teen Safe Driver Program who demonstrate safe driving habits," said Gary Gonczy, director of marketing for Kwik Trip. "We are aware of no other program with as much potential to reduce the epidemic of injury and death associated with teen crashes. The Teen Safe Driver Program helps parents mentor young drivers and helps protect them during one of the riskiest times of their life. Parents really need to take a look at this program."
