Kum & Go Welcomes Indy Drivers to New E85 Location

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Indy car drivers Marco Andretti and Ryan Hunter-Reay were on hand last week to promote American corn ethanol at the grand opening of Kum & Go's newest E85 pump location here, AgWired.com reported.

For two hours Thursday, customers could fill visit the convenience store and their tanks with E85 fuel for 85 cents per gallon, and a lot of people came out to do just that, according to the Web site. The drivers, who are teammates, signed autographs and gave interviews.

The promotional event tied in with the Iowa Corn Indy 250 race, scheduled for Sunday afternoon, where Hunter-Reay was slated to drive the Ethanol USA Team Izod Indy Car.

Both drivers told AgWired.com that they appreciate the support from Iowa's corn growers, and like the fact that their cars run on American-made renewable fuel. After doing so for years now, the pair said they've proved the performance capability of the fuel.
