At Kum & Go, a Giveaway to Get Pumped Up About

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Soaring gas prices no longer mean much to four lucky winners in Kum & Go's "Keep on Truckin'" gas giveaway. Each was given 8,200 gallons of gasoline, the equivalent of four full tanker trucks, on Friday at a special winner's presentation event in West Des Moines, Iowa.

The following Kum & Go customers won't have to pay for gas for at least the next five years; Jeanette Chance, Fordland, Mo., a middle school building secretary; Lloyd Reeder, Atlantic, Iowa, a research associate; Ida Gerber, Omaha, Neb., an accounting office worker; and Shirley Reekers, Fort Dodge, Iowa, a mail carrier.

"I'm a single mom on a tight budget so this is a blessing for my family," Chance said. Reeder added, "I travel 160 miles a day for work so this is going to help us immensely."

"When we envisioned this promotion we never imagined gas would reach $3 per gallon," said Kum & Go CEO Kyle Krause. "This is a significant prize; having free gas for five years is like winning the lottery. The response to this promotion has been phenomenal. People have been excited about the opportunity to win."

The national average for a gallon of gas has risen 73 cents in the past year. Estimated value of the prize is $24,263. Nearly 2 million entries were collected from all 425 Kum & Go locations throughout 13 states.

The promotion was open to Kum & Go customers who are residents in one of the 13 states in which Kum & Go operates, including Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Colorado, Arkansas, Wyoming and Wisconsin.
