Kum & Go Employee Gets Jail Time for Lottery Theft

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Authorities in Sioux County claim a 22-year-old former convenience store clerk at a Kum & Go store here will spend a week in jail and two years on probation for stealing scratch-off lottery tickets from his former employer, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.

David Ryan Lewison of Hawarden, Iowa, was allegedly caught on surveillance tapes taking 220 of the lottery tickets from the store Nov. 1, prosecutors reported, explaining Lewison scratched off all the tickets and redeemed the winning ones for $120, according to the report.

As part of his sentence, the court also ordered Lewison to reimburse the convenience store chain for the tickets he stole, and to also pay $120 back to the Iowa Lottery for his winnings on the stolen tickets, the report stated.
