Johnson Oil, Carlson Oil Ink Deal for Five C-Stores

ROCK FALLS, Ill. -- Locally headquartered Johnson Oil Co. reached sales agreement with Carlson Oil Co. that includes Carlon's BP contract, dealer contracts and five convenience stores. The stores included in the sale are located in Plano, Sheridan, Seneca, Earlville and Shabbona, all in Illinois. The deal does not include Carlson's location in its hometown of Newark, Ill., which the company will retain.

American Business Brokers and WJF Services Inc. facilitated the transaction, which was the result of a strategic decision by Carlson Oil president Don Carlson. "Carlson Oil has successfully operated these outstanding stores for a number of years along with a very well run fuel distributorship," said American Business Brokers' president Terry Monroe. "Mr. Carlson has reached a point in his successful business career where he is ready to downsize and simplify his operation. This transaction gives him the opportunity to do that while allowing him and his family to continue to remain active in the industry."

Johnson Oil, with more than 50 years and three generations of experience, operates more than 50 stores in northwestern Illinois and southeastern Iowa. In addition, the company supplies numerous dealers with Shell-branded products.

"This transaction will add the BP brand to their longtime Shell brand affiliation and expand Johnson Oil's marketplace form southeastern Iowa all the way to the far western suburbs of Chicago," added WJF Services president Bill Fecht.
