Honey Farms Shows Some Love

WORCESTER, Mass. -- All 35 of Honey Farms' stores in central Massachusetts will see red in the month of February, as they partner with the American Heart Association to celebrate the organization's Go Red for Women campaign during February, which is Heart Month.

Eugenie Smith, director of finance for Honey Farms, and Angela Minardi of the American Heart Association, kicked off the event on National Wear Red Day on Feb. 2. The chain will sell red hearts for $1 in stores to benefit the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign.

Cardiovascular disease is women's number one killer in the region, at about one heart per minute. Smith suffered a heart attack four years ago, and is educating women about the risk factors and ways to stay heart-healthy.

"I'm a survivor but I'm not your typical case." Smith told local news channel NECN, adding that she leads a healthy lifestyle of eating right and is an avid cyclist, swimmer, golfer and kickboxer.
