Fuel City Prepares to Debut Third C-store Location

HALTOM CITY, Texas — Fuel City is weeks away from welcoming customers at its newest location, rising at the corner of Haltom Road and Airport Freeway here.

The convenience store will be the third to carry the Fuel City banner. It will feature the retailer's signature street tacos and a menagerie that includes two baby buffaloes, two Longhorns, a donkey, a zebra and a zonkey (half zebra-half donkey), John Benda, the chain's founder, told the Star-Telegram.

"It is all going good. I'm really, really excited about it," Benda said.

Fuel City also has Texas locations in downtown Dallas and Mesquite. According to the news outlet, the sites boasts low gas prices and an urban cowboy vibe that makes them a favorite, 24-hour hangout.

The Dallas store is such a popular nighttime hot spot that Benda has had to hire cops to direct traffic, the report added.

The Haltom City location features decorative stonework and an outdoor patio with a garage door that can open and close to allow all-weather dining.

"People will be able to sit out there and watch the Cowboys game or come at 2 in the morning and eat a taco," he said. "It is going to be a lot of fun."
