Four C-store Brands Make Franchise 500 List

IRVINE, Calif. — 7-Eleven Inc. once again ranks among the top bets for entrepreneurs looking to break into the franchise business.

According to Entrepreneur magazine, the Dallas-based convenience store chain lands at No. 10 on the magazine's 36th Annual Franchise 500. The annual ranking reveals the impact of the newest trends and the industries poised for growth.

The latest list puts startup costs for a 7-Eleven franchise between $37,000 and $2 million. As of 2014, the retailer's franchise count stood at 8,170, up from 6,723 in 2011. In addition, 7-Eleven is looking for new franchisees in approximately 36 U.S. states and regions.

7-Eleven is not the only convenience store chain making an appearance on this year's Franchise 500 list. Circle K takes the No. 42 spot, with a total startup investment of between $211,500 and $1.6 million. The retailer boasts 462 franchise units in the United States.

In addition, ampm appears at No. 177, with a total startup investment of between $397,400 and $7.8 million, and 962 franchise units in the U.S. as of 2014.

The magazine also makes note of Street Corner, with a total startup investment of between $89,400 and $300,900, and 39 franchise units by last year's end.
