EZ GO Taps Into Unique Power Source

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A new EZ GO convenience store in Nebraska is going to new heights for power.

The c-store, situated at 84th Street and Windmill Drive in Lincoln, offers a unique design and bright colors, but its most notable feature may be the wind turbines on top of the building that help power the store, according to television station KLKN.

"It's going to be a fairly small percentage of what we use, but again, it helps a little bit. Plus, we like the look," EZ GO President Carey Johnson said.

The two wind turbines, which cost approximately $20,000, are not designated to power certain aspects of the store, but do help offset overall energy costs, Johnson told the news outlet.

"It's amazing," said Beth French, store manager. "I have people coming in now, even before we were open asking, 'Are you guys open yet?' because they've watched us from the ground up just curious to see what we are."

Oklahoma-based EZ GO has five stores with wind turbines, two of them in Lincoln. The retailer has locations in Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska.
