ExxonMobil Elects New Board Member

IRVING, Texas -- Exxon Mobil Corp. shareholders elected Kenneth C. Frazier to the oil company’s board of directors. Frazier currently serves as executive vice president and president of Global Human Health at Merck & Co. Inc.

With Frazier’s election, the ExxonMobil board stands at 10 directors, nine of whom are non-employee directors. Frazier will serve on the Board Affairs and Public Issues and Contributions Committees, according to an announcement by ExxonMobil.

Frazier was appointed to his current position at Merck in 2007. He leads marketing and sales functions for Merck's pharmaceutical and vaccine businesses worldwide. Since joining Merck in 1992, he has held a number of key leadership positions including serving as senior vice president and general counsel from 1999 to 2006.

Prior to Merck, Frazier was a partner with the Philadelphia firm of Drinker Biddle & Reath. He’s been recognized with multiple awards for his personal pro bono legal work.

Frazier, 54, earned a Bachelors in political science from Pennsylvania State University in 1975 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1978, the company stated.
