ExxonMobil Donates Land For Veteran's Museum
HOUSTON -- Exxon Mobil Corp. has donated a 35-acre tract of land in South Houston for development by the Veteran's Museum in Texas. The museum will serve as a nonprofit educational resource for the community recognizing the service of America's diverse veterans throughout history.
"ExxonMobil is proud to have the opportunity to partner with the Veteran's Museum board of directors in honoring our nation's veterans by providing the site for this museum," said Morris Foster, president of ExxonMobil Production Co. "ExxonMobil has a significant presence in Houston and it's important to us to contribute to the communities in which we operate. Additionally, this is a way to recognize the more than 6,500 ExxonMobil employee/retiree veterans in the United States, nearly 1,000 of whom live in the Houston area."
The mission of the Veteran's Museum in Texas is to honor America's veterans and their service to America. Through permanent and changing exhibits, educational programs and community outreach programs, the museum will pay tribute and remembrance to those who served their country from the Revolutionary War to the present.
"The freedom we enjoy as Americans has been purchased at great cost by men and women who have confronted evil with courage and placed themselves in harm's way to protect the American Way," said Gov. Rick Perry. "This new hall of honor for our war heroes will teach future generations both the meaning of freedom, and its cost."
