ExxonMobil Awards Students $1.75M in Grants

IRVING, Texas -- For the eighth year, the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program provided grants to schools across the nation to enhance math and science programs, and this year, the company has given $1.75 million to students through the program, the company stated.

"ExxonMobil and our branded retailers are proud to invest in today's students by supporting their neighborhood schools," Ben Soraci, U.S. retail sales director for ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing, said in a statement. "It is just one way our retailers are involved in the communities where we do business."

This year, the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program awarded 3,500 $500 grants to K-12 educational institutions in 40 states and the District of Columbia, according to the company.

"It's donations such as this that help us in our endeavor to provide our students with the resources to achieve their goals through higher educational experiences," Edward Lincoln, board president for the Rush-Henrietta Central School District, said in a statement. "These funds will be used by Leary Elementary School to purchase math and science equipment for their students."

Since 2000, the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program has contributed more than $15 million to schools through its Exxon and Mobil retailers, the company stated.
