E85 Abounds in Iowa

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Iowa now has a total of 66 stations offering E85 and 186 stations offering biodiesel blends, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) announced.

Over the past several days, Kum & Go added E85 to three stations -- keeping them the state's leading E85 retailer with nine outlets. The three new stores are located in Coralville and De Soto, according to the Grain Journal.

"July 4th is always a great time to reflect on our freedoms and Iowans in five communities now have the freedom to select a homegrown fuel," stated IRFA's Managing Director Lucy Norton. "This is just the beginning. Over the next couple of months, we could see dozens of new E85 and biodiesel fueling options across Iowa."

Entities wishing to install E85 or biodiesel retailing sites or biodiesel blending terminals can apply for grants through the $13 million Iowa Department of Economic Development infrastructure program.
