E-Z Mart Creates Scholarship Program

Texarkana, Texas -- Convenience store chain E-Z Mart created the E-Z Mart Scholarship program to recognize and support employee's children or dependents who want to attend an institute of higher education upon completing high school.

The E-Z Mart Scholarship will help recipients pay for their education by providing them with $1,000 toward the costs and expenses associated with college. The funds for the scholarship are contributed by E-Z Mart, and each year, up to $10,000 will be provided to the program, the company stated. This year, E-Z Mart awarded nine individuals with $1,000, according to the company. Recipients include Lifford James Luthringer, Chelsea Ponder, Joy Ann Grigson, Lashay Hodge, Sean Patrick Withem, Kristen Verser, Mikaela Campbell, Leslie Smith and Hillary McKenna Fowler.

The E-Z Mart chain of convenience stores grew under the direction of the chain's founder, the late Jim Yates, whose legacy continues in those who learned from him and those who can be helped through the scholarship, which is funded through the company's success, the company stated.
