'CSNews' Recognized for Design, Editorial Excellence in 2009 Tabbie Awards
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Convenience Store News was named a winner in two categories in the just-completed 2009 Tabbie Awards competition, sponsored by Trade, Association and Business Publications International based here.
CSNews’ art director, Ana Rodrigues, won the Gold Design Award for the best front cover illustration for the Feb. 4, 2008, "Get Green" issue. In published comments, the judges called CSNews’ entry "an interesting approach to a green themed issue—the level of detail in the illustration is particularly impressive," and "fantastic illustration! Very eye-catching and impactful."
Rodrigues conceptualized the cover, which was drawn by Nick Rotondo.
In the Best Single Issue category, which the business publication association called its most comprehensive, CSNews won an honorable mention for its October 2008 NACS Show Issue, entitled, "The Winds of Change." Editors Don Longo, Tammy Mastroberte, Barbara Grondin Francella, Linda Lisanti and Mehgan Belanger were all recognized for their contributions.
The 2009 Tabbie Awards featured just shy of 500 entries, with nominations coming from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, France, China, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Germany and India.
