Conversion from Clark to Mac's Rolls On
NEW YORK -- The conversion of Clark Retail Enterprises Inc. stores to Mac's Convenience Stores continues as three stores in Illinois undergo the transformation, according to a report in Quad-Cities (Illinois) Online.
Three Clark service stations in the Illinois Quad-Cities area, two in Rock Island and one in East Moline began conversion Monday. They were part of the purchase of 43 locations in five states, said Rick Cagle, director of operations for Mac's Illinois region. Mac's Convenience Stores is the U.S. division of Laval, Quebec-based Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. The sale gave Couche-Tard 680 stores in the Midwest.
Thirty-three of the stores are in Illinois and the rest are in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio, according to the report.
The conversions from Clark Retail Enterprises to Mac's will continue on a staggered basis through Sept. 4, Mr. Cagle said, according to Quad-Cities Online.
The stations were closed during the conversion and were expected to reopen under a temporary Mac's signage until permanent ones are installed, Mr. Cagle said. Temporary signs were the only changes the public would see short-term, he said.
Mac's planned to retain current employees and maintain the retail stores and gasoline-pumping operations, Mr. Cagle said, according to the report.
