Clark Retail Receives Approval to Sell 456 Stores

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- Clark Retail Enterprises Inc. turned another page in its infamous history today receiving court approval to sell 456 On the Go, Oh! Zone and Clark-branded convenience stores and gas stations for more than $170 million.

The deal was brokered by Chicago-based National Real Estate Clearinghouse (NRC), which signed on to handle Clark's liquidation shortly after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last October. NRC declined Wednesday to identify the buyers.

Clark's White Hen Pantry Inc. subsidiary is excluded from the bankruptcy.

There are an additional 150 sites that are: under contract and waiting to be approved on July 31 and August 12; or still available for sale, see www.nrcBid.com/305 for a complete list of remaining sites.

Clark operates in nine states: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri. The Oak Brook, Ill.-based chain last week reached a deal with Canadian operator Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. to sell 43 locations in Illinois Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio for $24.5 million.
