Citgo Establishes Donation Program

Citgo Petroleum Corp. said it would donate one penny to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for every gallon of branded gasoline it sells to its more than 4,000 branded convenience store operators as a part of the relief effort for the New York City World Trade Center and Washington Pentagon Building tragedies.

Citgo estimates that the "Penny-per-Gallon" program will result in $500,000 to $750,000. In addition, Citgo has established an employee relief fund in which the company will match dollar-for-dollar all contributions that employees make to the American Red Cross relief fund and vowed to explore additional ways of assisting with the relief effort.

"We are shocked and deeply saddened by those horrendous attacks and the tragic loss of lives," said Oswaldo Contreras, Citgo's president and CEO. "This is our way of coming together to help the victims and their families and friends of these tragic events. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them."

Citgo, a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of the Republic of Venezuela.
