Circle K Golf Tournament Benefits Disabled Children, Adults
PHOENIX -- Circle K and its business partners hosted the 7th annual Aces High Golf Tournament and Silent Auction Reception in Las Vegas, benefiting the United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Central Arizona. The event, held Oct. 5-6, raised $481,369.
The success of the event in a time of economic uncertainty shows the level of commitment of Circle K and its business partners to giving back to the community, specifically in creating opportunities for children and adults with disabilities, according to the UCP, which has been the beneficiary of Circle K's community involvement for more than 25 years.
Locally and nationally, Circle K has remained the largest corporate sponsor for the organization that provides comprehensive programming to more than 3,000 children and adults with various disabilities, including cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, developmental delays and learning disabilities.
The proceeds generated from the tournament are above and beyond the funds raised by Circle K's Arizona Region through in-store canister collections. In 2008, more than $2.6 million was raised by employees in Circle K's Arizona and Nevada stores for UCP of Central Arizona, as well as UCP affiliates representing Las Vegas and Southern Arizona.
At the current rate, 2009 collections are expected to reach nearly $3 million.
"We are extremely grateful to have a corporate partner like Circle K. Their support touches every aspect of our programming," said UCP of Central Arizona's Executive Director Dan Rossi. "Without the community support we receive from donors and corporate supporters, such as Circle K, we would not have the ability to touch as many lives as we do."
