C-Stores, Boost Mobile Give To Needy Students

IRVINE, Calif. -- Boost Mobile, with the help of c-stores selling its pay-as-you-go wireless phones and services, raised more than $150,000 to benefit Education is Freedom, a public charity that focuses on students who have shown academic promise and leadership, but need financial assistance and guidance to go to college.

The donation was raised by a combination of Boost Mobile sales during the month of May and convenience store customer donations. Throughout the month of May, convenience store locations that carry Boost products also included Boost-branded canisters for customers to donate to Education is Freedom. Boost sales amounted to $100,000 of the total contribution, the company reported.

The proceeds from the collaboration will help provide scholarships. During the past three years, more than 50,000 students have applied to Education is Freedom for scholarships and more than $2.5 million has been awarded to over 600 students nationwide.

"This collaboration aligns with Boost Mobile's ongoing efforts to find ways to support programs that empower youth to enhance their lifestyle, status and independence," said Brandyn White, channel marketing manager, Boost Mobile. "Education is Freedom provides youth with the scholarships they need to get to that next level in life."
