BP and 'CSNews' to be Honored by American Business Media

NEW YORK -- For the second consecutive year, Convenience Store News has been named a finalist in the William D. Littleford Awards for Corporate Community Service competition, sponsored by American Business Media (ABM).

CSNews will be honored, along with BP plc., for its coverage of the oil company’s commitment to environmental and social goals. The nominated article was the cover story of CSNews’ Feb. 4 issue. Written by Senior Editor Linda Lisanti, "Going Green" featured coverage of BP’s innovative LEED-certified environmental station and other corporate efforts around environmental education and sustainability.

The award ceremonies will be held during ABM’s Top Management Meeting at the Westin River North Hotel, 320 N. Dearborn Avenue in Chicago, on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

The corporate winner of the Grand Littleford receives a check for $3,000. Checks for $1,000, $750, and $500 will go to the first, second and third runners-up, respectively. In addition, both the magazine and the corporate subject will receive awards.

The William D. Littleford Awards for Corporate Community Service were named after and established by the chairman emeritus of BPI Communications Inc. The award recognizes companies, organizations or individuals that are involved in active community service programs aimed at alleviating critical social problems. Littleford established this award for a number of purposes: to raise the visibility of the business media editorial product; to encourage increased coverage and recognition of community service success stories; and to motivate other organizations to apply such solutions in their own communities.
