Anonymous Washington Couple to Open Non Profit Gas Station

MUKILTEO, Wash. – An anonymous couple in Mukilteo, Wash. have decided to buy the local Speedway 76 station and turn it into a money-maker for local causes, reported The Mukilteo Beacon.

The couple already owns a number of stations in the area, and told The Mukilteo Beacon "We've been really fortunate. And we want to give something back to the community."

The profits from the station, which are expected to be in the high five figures, will go to local organizations such as the children's hospital, the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA and the local Little League the report stated.

"People see what Bill Gates is doing. This is just a smaller scale," the couple told The Mukilteo Beacon.

According to the report, the couple will remodel the property and extend the gas station's services to include a c-store and a drive thru window. They will also offer full-service gas to those needing assistance and the only car repair in the north end of town with mechanic Dave Hanson.

But gas prices will stay low at the station, due to the couple's competitive pricing. They also plan to offer discounts and incentives so people will use cash instead of credit, in an effort to increase profits for charity.

In an effort to attract business from out-of-town, the couple plans to offer biodiesel at the station. This will give the city agencies a local place to fill up, instead of going out of town.

The couple has employed local CPA Scott Hyde to donate time to audit the books, the report stated.
