AAA Chapter Seeks Answers for Gas Prices

CINCINNATI -- As gas prices remain above $3 per gallon in many areas of the country, automobile club the Automobile Association of America (AAA) is asking marketers and oil companies to explain the cause of the high prices.

"Regrettably, the oil and gas industry has not been more forthcoming as to why these price increases occur and justifying their price adjustments," AAA executive vice president Jim Hanni said in a statement. "AAA encourages oil companies and marketers to explain what the situation is to consumers."

The nation's average price per gallon for regular fuel stood at $3.04 on Friday, up two cents from the day prior.

"We just call on oil companied and oil marketers to explain the situation why gas prices are going up at a time when gas prices appear to be adequate around the country," he added. "If they're having trouble moving supplies around, explain it."
