7-Eleven Stores Now Sells Bus Tickets in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. -- 7-Eleven Inc. has made taking mass transportation a little easier for Sun Tran passengers. In a program that began Dec. 17, commuters can now purchase Sun Tran bus passes at all 17 7-Eleven locations in the Tucson metropolitan area.

"The idea came from our customers who asked that our stores offer this service because many of our locations are near bus stops," Ray Kruckner, market manager for 7-Eleven stores in Arizona said in a released statement. "Plus our stores in the Phoenix area started selling bus tickets this year, and this has proven to be a popular and convenient service for consumers there."

According to a Sun Tran press release, passengers can buy the Full Fare Monthly, Full Fare Stored Value and Express Monthly passes 24 hours a day at the c-stores. Adding to the convenience factor, passengers can buy the passes with cash, credit or debit cards.

"We are excited about the partnership with 7-Eleven, which will prove very beneficial for our passengers," said Katrina Heineking, Sun Tran general manager. "7-Eleven is located throughout our community, providing many more options for passengers to purchase bus passes."

The ability to buy Sun Tran bus passes at 7-Eleven comes at a time when the information booths at Sun Tran’s three transit centers have closed. In addition to 7-Eleven, the transit agency is looking into additional sales locations, the release stated.
