7-Eleven Names Police Horse Slurpee

BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Police Department's Mounted Unit granted 7-Eleven the rights to rename one of its horses Slurpee after making a $5,000 donation to the 121-year-old unit, UPI.com reported.

The purebred Percheron, formerly known as Blackie, now holds the name Slurpee on his saddle after 7-Eleven made the donation, according to a report in The Baltimore Sun. The donation was part of a police fundraiser, which overall resulted in $90,000.

The horse made his public debut Friday morning at the grand opening of a new 7-Eleven location downtown.
