7-Eleven Announces Musical Partnership for Charity

DALLAS -- The USO and America's military families will soon benefit from the sale of a new, patriotic CD available exclusively at participating 7-Eleven stores called "Support Our Troops: Support Their Sacrifice," produced by Dallas-based YMC Records.

This CD, which went on sale yesterday, with a portion of its sales benefiting the USO, is the first of a five-CD agreement between YMC and 7-Eleven to benefit various charitable organizations.

"7-Eleven supports America's men and women in uniform, and we have the privilege of doing so directly in several military cities where we have 7-Eleven stores, such as San Diego, Norfolk, Va., Tampa and Killeen, Texas," said 7-Eleven president and CEO Joe DePinto, who is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. "Our previous partnerships with the USO have been tremendously successful and rewarding to 7-Eleven, our employees and franchisees, and it's hard to think of a more noble cause than helping soldiers who safeguard our everyday freedoms."

The CD is a compilation of 15 songs by well-known artists, including Willie Nelson, Larry Gatlin, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Judds and Hank Williams Jr.

Joining these musical icons on the CD are rising talents such as 13-year-old Courtney Now and Celena Rae of "American Idol."

7-Eleven is offering the album through a partnership with YMC Records, a division of Dallas-based World Digital Media Group LLC. (WDMG). YMC Records is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each CD and has guaranteed a minimum $50,000 contribution to the USO as part of the fund-raising CD project.

The album's release yesterday coincided with National Military Appreciation Month, which acknowledges the contribution and sacrifices of the members of the U.S. armed forces. "Support Our Troops: Support Their Sacrifice" will be available only at 7-Eleven stores until July 28. The suggested retail price is $8.99.

"The USO relies heavily on corporate citizens like 7-Eleven and YMC Records that dedicate resources to help support our efforts," said Edward A. Powell, USO president and CEO. "Music has long been an essential component of our overall mission, and its universal appeal is an ideal way to reach those willing to support our service men and women. We thank 7-Eleven and YMC Records for their support of the USO and our nation's military families."
