SuperAmerica Holds 'Cold for Gold' ICEE Day

MINNEAPOLIS and ST. PAUL, Minn. — SuperAmerica and Minnesota United soccer player Jamie Watson are teaming up for "Cold for Gold" day on June 29th. All ICEE purchases made at participating SuperAmerica locations will be donated to Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN).

Watson, a three-year member of Minnesota United Football Club, is also an active member of the community. This summer, he is teaming up with his favorite neighborhood store and his favorite beverage to bring Minnesotans the "Jamie Watson, Kickin' Blue Strawberry," an exclusive ICEE flavor only available at SuperAmerica stores.

"Working with SA and the folks from ICEE on creating the best new flavor since Red and Blue has been such a crazy thrill. I'm so proud to take this flavor and campaign to a group that helps athletes celebrate their abilities, not their disabilities. They are great athletes and it's an honor to work with them," said Watson. "June 29th is no doubt going to be a perfect hat trick with SuperAmerica, ICEE and Special Olympics Minnesota."

Watson's love of ICEE brought him to the attention of SuperAmerica via a random Twitter post and a chance meeting that has become an energetic promotion, according to the company.

SuperAmerica is a presenting sponsor of the Fall Games for Special Olympics Minnesota and has been a partner of SOMN since 2013.

"Kicking off the summer, with Jamie's Kickin' Blue Strawberry and partnering that with one of the great causes we support, Special Olympics Minnesota, is the epitome of supporting our mission statement and our values," stated SuperAmerica Vice-President Roger Burton. "We couldn't be happier to be working with Jamie and supporting such a great organization like Special Olympics Minnesota."

Watson will make special appearances at SuperAmerica stores around the Twin Cities on June 29th in support of the SOMN donation day, the new flavor and the ongoing "Win Free ICEEs for a Year" promotion.

Woodbury, Minn.-based SuperAmerica operates approximately 170 convenience stores and supports approximately 113 franchised c-stores under the SuperAmerica trademark, primarily in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
