Ricker’s Rolls Out Reduced Emissions Fuel Program

INDIANAPOLIS — Ricker Oil Co. hopes to help its Indianapolis-area customers reduce their carbon footprint. The convenience store retailer teamed up with GreenPrint LLC, the Arbor Day Foundation and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful to introduce Ricker’s Replenish, a sustainability program available at 506 pumps across 32 Indiana Ricker’s locations.

To kick off the program, Anderson, Ind.-based Ricker’s hosted a launch event at its 38th and Fall Creek Parkway store in Indianapolis on Friday, May 6. During the occasion, speeches were given by GreenPrint, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful President David Forsell and Ricker’s Founder Jay Ricker. A ribbon-cutting also took place, as well as a ceremonial first pump of gas.

The Ricker’s Replenish program involves customers pumping the same gasoline as before, with no additional charge. But now, every time a customer pumps any grade of fuel at Ricker’s, the program calculates the vehicle’s tailpipe emissions and invests in projects that remove carbon out of the atmosphere and puts oxygen back in. This includes planting trees, forest preservation, solar power development, wind power development and more.

“Anderson and Indianapolis is where our company roots are and is home to our employees and customers,” said Quinn Ricker, president and CEO of Ricker’s. “We couldn’t be happier to be able to offer such a unique program, solely dedicated to creating a positive impact on our community and environment.”

Founded in 1979 by Jay and Nancy Ricker, Ricker’s has 56 convenience stores and is known for its RickerPop fountain drinks.
