QuickChek Continues Veterans Support With Race Sponsorship

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — QuickChek Corp. returns as a sponsor of the 9th annual Long Island Run for the Warriors on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Lindenhurst, N.Y.

The annual event benefits Hope for the Warriors, a nonprofit that seeks to enhance the quality of life for post-Sept. 11 service members, their families and the families of fallen veterans who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.

The Run for the Warriors race series provides racers with the opportunity to pursue the sports of running, walking or cycling to assist in their physical and emotional rehabilitation. Races include a 10K, 5K and one-mile walk/run. More than 3,000 runners took part last year.

QuickChek, which has a store in nearby Lake Grove, supplies bottled water and cookies at the race.

Prior to the Run for the Warriors, the convenience store chain raised $163,002 in four weeks to help support Hope for the Warriors through an in-store donation program and a charity golf outing over the summer.

QuickChek was also sponsor of the 6th Precinct Cops Who Care Charity bicycling tour to raise funds for local military veterans in April along Suffolk County's North Shore. More than 300 riders, including the QuickChek ride team consisting of company executives and store personnel, took part in either a 25-mile ride or a 50-mile ride.

"We pride ourselves in being active members of the communities we serve and we're pleased to continue to honor and support our local service members and their families who give so much of themselves," said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling.

Whitehouse Station-based QuickChek operates 145 convenience stores throughout New York's Hudson Valley, New Jersey and Long Island.
