Phillips 66 Helps National Guard Members Find Employment

HOUSTON -- Phillips 66 teamed with the Center for America to become the lead corporate sponsor of American Jobs for America's Heroes, a nonprofit group that helps National Guard members find jobs.

According to a report by NJToday.net, a program on American Jobs for America's Heroes was recently presented to more than 100 contractor owners, craft business agents and local trade representatives at the Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery in Linden, N.J.

"Bayway Refinery has been successful over the past year in recruiting and hiring former military personnel to work at the refinery," Bayway Refinery Manager David Erfert told the news source. "This success is an example of how the American Jobs for America’s Heroes program is a win-win situation for our company and the individuals who are using their military experiences to strongly contribute to Phillips 66. I encourage the industry to promote the program, to match qualified personnel with jobs and help put America’s heroes back to work. Our values are safety, honor and commitment, and we are proud to support this effort on behalf of Phillips 66."

American Jobs for America's Heroes provides direct, hands-on support for employers and National Guard applicants. The nonprofit group serves as a standalone program and also as a complement to existing employment efforts and job fairs. The service is free to all employers, military job seekers and associations.

There are 358,000 National Guard members in the United States. Approximately 60,000 of these members are unemployed, the news source noted.

Houston-based Phillips 66 lends its 76, Conoco and eponymous brand names to thousands of convenience stores and gas stations.
