Chevron Honors Retiring School Administrator With $25,000 Donation

KERN COUNTY, Calif. -- Chevron presented a $25,000 check to the Kern County school district to honor Pat Alexander, the retiring administrator for the school superintendent here, who served the county for the past four decades.

The money is earmarked to offset costs for Kern County College Night; "Do the Math," a televised math tutorial service; and the "We the People" student competition, according to the Kern Valley Sun.

"Pat has been a great administrator for the county superintendent. Through her leadership, science, technology and career education was made a top priority for the kids of Kern County," said Adam Alvidrez, Chevron's public affairs representative and community outreach coordinator, who presented the check. "Chevron appreciates what Pat has done and looks forward to finding new ways to sustain our partnership with the Kern County superintendent of schools."

Alexander, who began her career as a teacher in the late 1970s, told the newspaper that Chevron always has been generous when there is an opportunity to support children. "This [contribution] is yet another example of Chevron's commitment to our students and community," she added.
