C-stores, Suppliers Salute Military With Veterans Day Promos

NATIONAL REPORT — Multiple convenience store chains and industry suppliers will honor current and former members of the United States military on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

BIGS

Seed snacks supplier BIGS is donating 75,000 bags of seeds to the United Service Organizations (USO), which connects service members and their families to family, home and country, in honor of the USO's 75th anniversary. The donation will go to service members and military families at USO centers across the country.

"It is an honor for us to give back to active duty service members in this way and especially at this time of the year as we celebrate Veterans Day and prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday," said Justin Havlick, BIGS president and founder. "We appreciate all that our military does to protect our freedom and this is our way of thanking them for their commitment and service."

BIGS will also launch a military appreciation tour that is scheduled to run Nov. 14-19 with stops at five military bases throughout the United States. BIGS will provide additional donations to Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Exchange Centers along the tour to include individual care packages for service men and women.

The BIGS partnership with the USO this year also included limited-edition military appreciation camo sunflower seed bags sold by retailers around the U.S.

SHEETZ INC.

Sheetz Inc. will give away free six-inch turkey subs and regular size fountain drinks to veterans and current servicemen and women when they present a military ID or proof of service. Stores that offer car washes will also give away free car washes.

"The Sheetz family has always supported the military community and giving back to our service men and women is important to our organization. We invite our veterans and active duty military to join us on Veterans Day as a way for us to say thank you for their service," said Joe Sheetz, president of Sheetz. "We are honored to have the opportunity to show our gratitude for military personnel who have selflessly sacrificed for all of us."

TURKEY HILL

Turkey Hill stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana will welcome active, inactive and retired military personnel to visit for a free 16-ounce coffee or cappuccino, as well as a free Ultimate Wash service.

"We're incredibly grateful for the service and sacrifice of our past and present heroes, and we hope they'll join us on Veterans Day and enjoy a small token of our gratitude," said Kim Hertzog, public relations manager, Turkey Hill Minit Markets.

VERC ENTERPRISES

Military veterans can receive a free car wash and wax at VERC Enterprises' Briteway Car Wash locations in Marshfield and Norwell, Mass. The chain is giving away its "the whole shebang" top tier wash and wax, typically available for $22.

"This is just our small way of saying a heartfelt 'thank you' to the men and women who have served this country," said Paul Vercollone, vice president of VERC Enterprises.

WEIGEL'S

All Weigel's c-stores will give away free cups of coffee to members of the military community.

"We want to celebrate and honor our veterans both past and present who have given so graciously and selflessly to sacrifice for our country. It is our way to say thank you," said Bill Weigel, chairman of Weigel's, "and we are honored to have the opportunity to show our gratitude."
