Walmart Testing Made-to-Order Pizza Program

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is testing a made-to-order pizza program at one of its Neighborhood Market stores in Bentonville, according to a City Wire report. The pizzas are made fresh for customers while they wait, and can be baked at the store or wrapped for baking at home.

To save time, customers can also call the store, which is located on North Walton Boulevard approximately one mile from the company's home office, to place an order ahead of time before coming in to pick up the pizza and any beverages or other items with it.

The pizza offering is part of Walmart's "store of the community" program, whereby store management teams are looking at each store and what it could offer within its community, according to corporate spokesman John Forrest Ales. They work together with teams from within the home office to decide what products can be offered that are unique to their neighborhoods, such as Arkansas-grown blueberries available this year in multiple Neighborhood Market stores.

Ales did not comment on whether made-to-order pizzas will be offered at other Walmart stores.
