Two More Walmart Neighborhood Markets Added to Charleston Docket

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will open two more of its small-format grocery stores, Walmart Neighborhood Market, over the next two weeks in the South Carolina market.

According to The Post and Courier, the first of the new Walmart Neighborhood Market locations will open Aug. 5, at 10635 Dorchester Road in Summerville, S.C. The second location’s opening will follow one week later on Aug. 12, at 3685 Ladson Road, Landson, S.C.

The 41,000-sq.ft. stores are about one-fourth the size of a traditional Walmart Supercenter, will focus on groceries and features drive-thru pharmacies and gas stations.

Two other Walmart Neighborhood Markets recently opened on Red Bank Road and St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, S.C. A fifth is planned at Patriot Boulevard, the news outlet reported.

The new stores add to Walmart’s 10 supercenters across the Charleston region.
