Tesoro Starts Flipping Albertsons Locations

PASCO, Wash. -- Less than a month after acquiring 51 Albertsons Fuel Express stations, Tesoro Corp. said it will begin reflagging the locations by the end of the year.

As reported by KEPR.com, three Albertsons Fuel Express stations in the Tri Cities area of Washington State (consisting of Richland, Pasco and Kennewick) will be transitioned to Tesoro sites by the time the calendar turns to 2012. Due to the change, all Albertsons Fuel Express employees must reapply for their positions.

The move, however, will not affect customers' preferred card points, the company said, reporting that the cards can still be used for gas at the former Albertsons stations, as well at any Tesoro station.

News of the Tesoro-Albertsons deal broke the same day that San Antonio-based Tesoro revealed it was growing its portfolio by 292 retail stations through separate purchase and lease agreements with Supervalu Inc. and Thrifty Oil Co. Tesoro bought the 51 Albertsons Fuel Express stations from Supervalu for $34 million, as CSNews Online previously reported. The Albertsons stations are located in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.
