Subway to Open 2,500 New Stores Next Year

MILFORD, Conn. -- Subway plans to maintain its perch as the top worldwide quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain, regarding number of locations. The division of Doctor's Associates Inc. plans to open 2,500 new restaurants in 2012, according to a QSRweb.com report.

The new locations will also add approximately 25,000 jobs, according to the report. Subway opened 2,100 locations in 2011. Of the new QSRs opened this year, 1,000 are located in the United States and Canada.

Although an exact figure is unknown, many of the new locations are expected to open in convenience stores next year.
