Shell Joins BP in Participating in BI-LO fuelperks! Program

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Shell recently unveiled 137 redemption stations in this area to support BI-LO's fuelperks! program. According to the Lake Wylie Pilot, the company's efforts coincide with a plan to have the majority of BI-LO fuelperks! redemption locations housed at Charlotte-area Shell stations.

However, that does not mean BP stations will be eliminated from the equation. "It does not end our partnership with BP," Elizabeth Ingram, BI-LO's public relations account executive, told the publication via e-mail. "This simply just expands the fuelperks! presence in Charlotte with rewards being redeemable at numerous Shell stations throughout the area."

The BI-LO fuelperks! program allows customers to earn 5 cents off per gallon of gasoline purchased for every $50 they spend on qualified in-store purchases at BI-LO. There is no maximum limit to the amount of fuelperks! rewards a customer can earn, but the rewards expire after three months.

According to BI-LO, since launching the program in 2008, it has saved consumers more than $63 million. Almost $17 million of that savings has occurred in the Charlotte area.

Dallas-based Excentus Corp. is the administrator of the fuelperks! loyalty program. As Convenience Store News Online previously reported, Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. has implemented a similar rewards program at many of its Southeastern U.S. stores.
