McDonald's Moving Closer to All-Day Breakfast Rollout

OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald's Corp.'s test of an all-day breakfast menu could expand nationwide as early as October, according to a memo sent to U.S. franchisees and employees. Early testing at restaurants in various regions has yielded encouraging results, reported the Wall Street Journal.

"We want to make it clear that we are not being presumptive that this will launch, but we want to make sure the system is ready to turn quickly and launch all-day breakfast should all of you believe and support that direction," Tucson, Ariz., franchisee LeAnn Richards stated in the memo. Richards is head of the task force studying all-day breakfast.

All-day breakfast is the No. 1 request from McDonald's customers, according to the company. Traditionally, the retailer cuts off breakfast service at 10:30 a.m. due to the operational challenges of preparing breakfast products alongside the full menu in limited kitchen space.

Tests of the expanded breakfast program began in San Diego in April before expanding to other cities, as CSNews Online previously reported.
