Dunkin’ Donuts Continues Growth Spurt with 38 New Locations

CANTON, Mass. -- Dunkin’ Donuts inked a multi-store deal with a group of franchisees to grow its presence in Central and Southern Milwaukee. The pact with the Milwaukee Coffee Brewing Co. will bring 36 new stores to the area.

The Milwaukee Coffee Brewing Co. consists of six existing Northeast Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees, which operate more than 370 restaurants in metro and upstate New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut, according to a company release. The new development throughout Milwaukee is part of the locally based company’s growth strategy to expand in existing markets and enter new cities across the country.

"Our collective passion for the brand, and experience building and operating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants make us the ideal candidates to expand Dunkin’ Donuts presence in Central and Southern Milwaukee," Mark Cafua, partner, Milwaukee Coffee Brewing Co. said in a released statement. "As long-term Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees, all of us pride ourselves on offering guests the highest quality products and outstanding customer service. We look forward to playing an important role in the daily lives of people who live, work and visit the Milwaukee area in the years to come."

During the first half of this year, Dunkin’ Donuts opened 338 net new locations worldwide, 75 of those in the United States. The company also signed 72 new domestic development commitments.

The development deal with the Milwaukee Coffee Brewing Co. isn’t Dunkin’ Donuts only move into Wisconsin. It is also seeking new and existing franchisees to develop restaurants in Sheboygan, Dodge, Washington and Ozaukee counties. "Dunkin’ Donuts welcomes Milwaukee Coffee Brewing Co. to the market," said Grant Benson, CFE, vice president of franchising and market planning, Dunkin’ Brands Inc. "As experienced Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees they possess a wealth of knowledge on the brand, and we are thrilled they are expanding their network to a new market. These restaurants will satisfy a growing demand in Central and Southern Milwaukee for high quality coffee and baked goods that are available all day."

This year’s expansion push comes on the heels of an active 2009. Last year, Dunkin’ Donuts opened 171 net new restaurants, 90 percent of which were outside the company’s core New England market and included non-traditional locations such as airports, arenas, travel plazas and universities, as Convenience Store News previously reported.
