Burger King Offering Home Delivery in More Cities

NEW YORK – Burger King plans to expand its home delivery service to Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco after seeing positive results in other test markets, according to Nation's Restaurant News.

The Miami-based, fast-food chain plans to add the service to about five locations per month for a total of 20 locations in Chicago, 20 locations in Los Angeles and 15 locations in San Francisco.

Two Chicago Burger King locations already offer delivery, along with two in Los Angeles and four in the San Francisco Bay Area. The expansion comes after the company tested the service in Houston, Miami, New York City and the greater Washington, D.C. area.

"As its popularity has grown, we have seen an increasing demand for the program in other markets," Alex Macedo, president of North America, Burger King Worldwide Inc., said of the delivery service.

Customers interested in Burger King delivery can visit www.BKDelivers.com to register their ZIP codes and e-mail addresses. They will be notified when delivery service becomes available in their area.

As part of the delivery program, Burger King developed special packaging to keep food fresh and hot during transit. Some containers have special air filters to ensure the crispiness of French fries, while others separate the hot and cold ingredients of a hamburger to keep them all fresh, according to the report.

Delivery requires a minimum order of $10, but most menu items, including limited-time offers, are available. Customers can call in or order online between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. at most participating locations, but delivery prices and times may vary by store.

Burger King already offers delivery service at many of its international locations, including restaurants in Mexico, Turkey, Brazil, Columbia and Peru, as CSNews Online previously reported.
