Ahold's Small-Store Concept bfresh Expands in Beantown

BRIGHTON, Mass. — Ahold USA will bring its bfresh small-store concept to Brighton, Mass., on Aug. 19 with the opening of a new 9,700-square-foot location. This marks the banner's second store in the greater Boston area.

The first bfresh store opened in Allston, Mass., in September 2015, as CSNews Online previously reported.

"Shoppers want to keep things simple," said Patrick Blye, bfresh team coach. "They want fresh foods they can afford, right around the corner. bfresh is all about meeting those needs. No matter how you want to shop — like stocking up for the week, buying fresh for meals every day, or stopping in for the freshest quick bite in town — bfresh has got you covered."

The bfresh banner is aimed at busy urban shoppers and offers more natural and organic options than a typical market; vegan and gluten-free options; and specialty foods, along with popular brand-name items.

The new store also features Little Kitchen, a meal convenience destination that offers made-to-order foods to eat on site; ready-to-eat or -heat items to go; and fresh meal components to make easy meals at home.
