KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --Wholesaler H.T. Hackney Co. recently began offering ePB-Retail Link, a free Internet-based price book application tool. It allows store operators to receive invoices electronically and create and maintain their price book and promotions online. Additionally, ePB-Retail Link lets retailers maintain all their shelf labels and view and maintain product margins.
The application allows retailers that have not implemented scanning, are only doing so at the cash register, or are unsatisfied with their current solution to enter the world of automation with little or no financial risk, said the company. Designed to help store operators focus on operation rather than technology, ePB-Retail Link leverages their current point-of-sale investment and can increase profits and simplify store operations, according to the announcement.
"We are always looking for new products and services that make our customers stronger and more profitable," said Tommy Thomas, vice president of sales and business for Hackney. "In an age where store automation is becoming a necessity to be competitive, ePB-Retail Link, is the right product at the right time. NACS studies indicate that a retailer can improve their revenues by about five percent by implementing scanning. For retailers that is an increase in profits of about $2,500 to $5,000 per store per month."
ePB-Retail Link is compatible with most cash register systems, including Glbarco: Passport and GSITE; VeriFone: Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz; Wayne: Nucleus. The ePB product line also includes web applications that allow retailers to centralize and manage retail prices; initiate promotions by day of the week and hour of the day; receive automatic product, delivery and pricing updates from wholesaler; track inventory; keep control of profits by managing both item and category margins; simplifying bookkeeping and daily reconciliation; manage fuel, ground storage, and EPA/UST reporting requirements; and manage inventory based on sales activity.
H.T. Hackney services more than 20,000 retailers by distributing over 25,000 products to 21 states.
